If you are familiar with the struggle of lugging around your golf bag on an inferior cart (or none at all!) then take note – there are great alternatives out there. How to find top rated golf carts
Golf cart, caddie, buggie – whatever you call it, they all serve one major purchase which is to get your gear around the golf course. However they don’t all do this the same way, and furthermore they don’t all do this to the same extent! Some of the best golf carts to buy offer a huge range of features, but is this really necessary or important for you?
Well, everyone is different… here’s what you need to consider when looking for a golf cart.
Type of cart
The major difference between golf carts used to be that some were easier to push or pull, and depending on your preferences you’d choose a golf cart accordingly.
But these days we have far more options available that go beyond simply the best golf push cart or pull cart.
Most of the carts in my golf push cart reviews can either be pushed or pulled. The idea is simple – you either pull the cart behind you or push it in front of you. Newer golf carts usually allow for both because they have 3 or 4 wheels, meaning it can stand alone.
If a golf cart has 2 wheels, it will only be suitable as a pull cart but I haven’t included these in my golf pull carts reviews.
The really exciting golf carts are the electric ones. These can be further broken down into auto folding or fully electric designs.
Auto folding golf carts are simply push/pull designs fold automatically, usually at the touch of a button. Recently in particular these have been among the top 10 top 10 electric golf trolleys you can buy. One of the annoying things about a golf cart is having to collapse it yourself, and while some work better than others, an auto folding golf cart is the best folding golf trolley as it works entirely independently.
Fully electric golf carts are the real gadgets. These have grown from noisy and cumbersome designs to sleek robotic ones that can follow you entirely around the course. The best electric golf carts 2017 offers are powered via Bluetooth and can sense your movements. They will stop when you stop and can be further controlled via a remove. Of course this means additional weight.
Personally the best golf cars aren’t something seek or I encounter regularly at my local club – unless they’re used by staff. They’re more often a resort luxury, however you can buy your own. There’s not many seated golf carts I’d consider purchasing but I did include one in my golf cart reviews. If you have the money to buy a seated golf cart then go with the best golf cart brand – otherwise don’t bother spending this much!
As the main reason for a golf cart is holding your gear, you want to be sure it can, you know… hold your gear. Don’t make the mistake of assuming your golf cart will have capacity for your bag. Some are more suitable for larger bags then others, and I’ve mentioned this in the push golf trolley reviews below.
All good quality golf carts need to be collapsible, but some do it better than others. If you have a small car you need to consider the space you can afford to use. Most golf carts fold to the size of a small suitcase but they can be different to fold (older golf carts come to mind!). This is why an auto folding golf cart can be a lift saver and why they’re among the best golf carts 2017 offers.
A word of warning…
Weight is an important consideration in anything golf related – particularity because you will be the one carrying it around the course. While a golf cart can do a great deal in reducing this burden, they can also become a burden in themselves.
Added features can be great but when they’re not essential they simply act as added weight. A heavier weight can lead to other complications and make the cart less usable. Don’t make the mistake of underestimating the importance of the weight of the golf cart that you decide to purchase – you will find this listed in the comparison chart above.
Top golf cart reviews
Below you’ll find golf push cart reviews and golf pull cart reviews. You’ll also find a range of others for you to compare.
GolferPal EasyPal Electric Auto-Folding/Unfolding Golf Push Cart Review
The GolferPal EasyPal is simply awesome. The thing I love about having a golf cart is the fact that it takes the burden away from you when you’re on the golf course. Some things are essential and others aren’t, but the appeal of an auto folding/unfolding golf cart always grabs me and that’s what I really love about the GolferPal EasyPal.
The first thing you notice is that it’s really stable. They’ve obviously worked hard to ensure the bags weight has been evenly distributed over the cart. If you’re familiar using a cheaper cart then you’d know just how frustrating it can be when your bag wont balance properly.
The carts wheels are great on all terrain and it moves quite well. The battery for the auto folding mechanism lasts around 30 folds before it needs charging which is a fair amount of time.
This is definitely one for lover of gadgets – but note that it is a little heavy, but this is a small sacrifice for something that looks great and is sure to receive a lot of positive comments.
Clicgear Model 3.5+ Golf Push Cart Review
We all have our personal preferences but I have to say before anything – I’m a massive fan of the Clicgear Model 3.5+ golf cart. Quality aside, it looks phenomenal and even before I used it, I knew it would be one of the top rated golf push carts.
The first thing to note is that there are a huge range of colors for you to choose from. These can range from neutral to quite funky and the wheel color will change based on your choice.
The cart itself is great and stands out among the best push golf carts 2017 offers. It includes storage for a cup, 4 loose items and a few other things. The cool thing about this one is the accessories you can add on. For example, you can purchase a seat to give you a break mid game and you can purchase things like an additional cup holder – although it already comes with one as standard.
When the golf cart is folded down it is about the size of a small suitcase. You’ll also find many of the best golf bags for Clicgear 3.5 as it seems to always be among the top 10 golf carts out there.
The only complaint I see people making is the excess straps – not such a bad thing if you have a bigger bag, but they can be slightly annoying for small ones. Still, there’s more people saying that this will be their golf cart for life.
CaddyTek EZ-Fold 3 Wheel Golf Push Cart Review
The next best golf push cart 2017 offers is from CaddyTek – a brand known to produce some great quality carts and the EZ-Fold 3 is certainly no exception. Theres beena. great update on this item and you can see how well it presents now just by looking at it. Straight off the bat the golf cart looks strong and solids, which is a great indication of how strong it will be. It’s pretty great overall.
The one click fold actually involves 2 steps, but it’s really simple to fold and becomes the best compact golf trolley I’ve seen. You can stop the cart by pressing the brake and removing it with the foot latch to start again which is special to this particular brand. It includes some storage which is handy and a mesh bag to hold loose items.
Another thing that’s great is that they can accommodate a whole range of bag sizes – after all this is the major objective of a golf cart, and it does this quite well. The traction of the wheels is great and while it is a bit heavier, it’s also that bit stronger giving you some additional level of comfort.
This golf cart not only looks great and could be the best golf push trolley 2017 for you.
Bag Boy Quad XL Golf Cart Review
From another of the top golf cart brands, What I love about the Bag Boy Quad XL golf cart is that it is great for the individual. It comes in a huge range of colors for you to choose from and it can be adjusted to your specifications.
Adjustable arms are used to secure a bag in place and there’s also a few extra spots for your storage needs – you can store both golf balls and your cell phone. The cell phone holder is made of rubber and some reviews have mentioned they didn’t feel comfortable using it, but if you have a case on your phone this shouldn’t be a problem. The handle is also height adjustable.
The oversized wheels make it super easy to push over grass even in bad weather. The cart also has a latch which prevents the bag from twisting, which some avid golfers will know is a really great thing.
When folded flat the golf cart takes up hardly any space. Unfortunately the umbrella holder is a bit of a waste as it’s quite small and I can imagine most people would find this to be the case. However I think overall it’s a great buy.
Spin It Golf Products GCPro II Push Golf Cart Review
We all want something easy to use – and the Spin It Golf Prodcuts GCPRO II is just that – it’s a super easy to use golf cart with large wheels making it easy to push in any condition and equally easy to store.
Something great about this cart is just how flat it goes when it is collapsed. Its certainly one of flatter and more compact designs I’ve seen. It’s pretty convenient too as it offers a space for your extra items while playing included a spot for your drink bottle and umbrella.
At around 16 pounds its weight is pretty standard but still lightweight. Unfortunately there is no cargo net included but you can choose to purchase one as an additional add on.
The golf cart does a great job of locking your bag into place. The only con is that some have found the straps are a little long for their bags, so if you have a large bag this cart may be perfect. Plus, it’s REALLY affordable.
Stewart Golf X9 Review
A golf cart that takes things to the next level is the Stewart Golf X9. It’s easily one of the most innovative in my electric golf cart reviews and one of the most impressive designs I’ve personally seen.
The golf cart goes beyond simply carrying your bag – it completely takes the burden off you by being self propelled due to the electric motor and Bluetooth connection. It’s pretty darn amazing especially if you spend a lot of time on the golf course.
The cart can move left right backwards and forwards following you via Bluetooth – all you need to do is have the remote in hand or on your person. When you place the remove on the cart it remains stationary and will follow you again when you remove it.
When you’re not on the golf course it can also be pushed by the handle. It also collapses quite flat so its easy to store.
There’s just so many benefits to having a hands free golf cart carrier. You can plan your play while you walk and it completely takes away the burden of carrying ANYTHING. The only problem is that it can make you a little lazy, but hey we deserve it. 😉
This is an extremely innovative golf cart and one of the best out there – like having your own personal bag carrier. Coming from the best electric golf cart brand you can trust, it’s available in a few neutral colors so its definitely worth checking out!
Q Air Pod – By Green Transporter 4 Wheel Mobilty Scooter Golf Cart Review
Most people don’t require anything more than a simple push/pull cart, but for those that are regularly on the course you may need more – and as one of the coolest on my list, I wanted to review the Q Air Pod anyway.
It’s hard to argue with the fact that this golf cart has a funky design. It looks a bit like a futuristic pod and is definitely one of the coolest golf carts I’ve seen, but it also seems to keep it simple.
Obviously the golf cart is a fully capable seated design with a full cockpit. It is powered by use of a handle similar to a motorcycle and has the ability to be pushed up to 18 mph. There’s enough power to get you around the entire golf course but I can’t help but wonder what you’d do if you didn’t make it! The cart has a weight limit of up to 728 pounds and it’s not fully enclosed as expected, but you can use the covers for the sides in wet weather.
Now it’s probably not for everyone, but there’s no denying that it is pretty impressive compared to some of the other seated golf carts out there.
